When we are diagnosed with a major health issue, we tend to allow our minds to go to the worst extreme. Doctors may not help the situation, by giving their guesstimates as to how long we have to live or what challenges await us. The truth is that doctors, despite their many years of education and experience, don’t know what our own unique outcome will be. In fact, by them telling us their thoughts or predictions, they may be unconsciously influencing the outcome. For example, a doctor who tells his patient that she only has a few months to live, may in fact be influencing the patient to make that prediction a reality.
When we find ourselves on the receiving end of a health challenge, we must remember that we are in charge of ourselves. Doctors can give us their proposed treatment plan, but ultimately it is we who decide whether we will go along with that treatment plan. We do not necessarily need to abide by everything that the doctor proposes. Many cancer patients who were prescribed the “cut (surgery), slash (chemotherapy), and burn (radiation)” treatment protocol have decided to try more holistic treatments instead or to combine the two.
It is imperative that we maintain a sense of hope, optimism, and positivity despite our illness prognosis. Our mind is very powerful. Disease can be empowered by a victim mindset. It’s incredibly easy to fall into a victim mindset when we are diagnosed with a major illness. Our mental fortitude to choose health must remain stronger than an illness. It is important to remember that many people who have had the flu have survived it, and many have died from it. There are people who have survived getting pneumonia, while others have passed away due to it. Likewise, there are those who have survived cancer, and others who were not as fortunate to do so. Each case, each illness, and each person is unique. Every individual can choose to stay optimistic and persevere through their health crisis.
If you are ever diagnosed with an ailment that is serious, remember to hold onto your power and control. You are in charge of your attitude, mindset, optimism, and outcome. Do not allow the disease to get stronger by you getting weaker mentally. Choose to live! Make a conscious choice not to allow any illness to take over your mind. The only exception to this would be if our illness is of our mind, such as dementia or Alzheimer’s. Stay in control. A tough mind can conquer many things in life.
People who make a conscious decision and choose to live, do the things that help them achieve that goal. They eat healthy. They exercise. They purposely create balance in every aspect of their life. They find a way to build a foundation and take action toward longevity. Someone who has that keen sense of living, tends to ward off illnesses. They radiate healthful energies. If they do happen to fall ill, their strong will to live gets them through the health challenge. That’s why many call cancer a battle. You fight like a warrior to keep what is yours, your life and your health. Don’t just give that away with a fragile mindset. Don’t head into a health battle with a fragile or doubtful mindset. Empower your mind to know that you will overcome whatever it is that you will face. This is what will help you get through not only health challenges in life, but many, many other challenges in life as well. Empower your mind with health and disempower illness.
